Introduction
This species occurs on decaying wood (mostly coniferous) and is found in temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, as well as in Africa, Australia and South America (Landcare Research 2012). Sporangia are large, sessile and short-stalked (Landcare Research 2012).
